Symbiosis is a concept about, and inspired by, self-reflection and how it can simultaneously enlighten both an artist and their artwork. By definition, symbiosis is a mutually beneficial relationship between two or more things; and in this instance, those two things are an artist and their artwork. By looking inward on oneself or interacting with one’s surroundings, they can discover significant ideas and influence groundbreaking developments that can be applied to their artwork. By creating artwork, one can learn meaningful things about themselves from the process and result. Ultimately, it all comes back to the artist and their self-development and how self-reflection can provide benefits to oneself and what they produce. The disco ball actually performs as a physical analogy of "the artist" or any self-reflective being; regardless of the motifs and the concept's initial intentions, it is open for interpretation as self-reflection is an activity that affects everyone differently. Finding yourself within your art and finding your art within yourself; it’s what Symbiosis is all about. Your artwork can be just as reflective as a mirror, it just takes some searching to find what you’re looking for.
